While PetPAC continues to work against any mandatory spay/neuter legislation in California and across the country, we are also working to provide solutions that will stop the killing of shelter animals.

During the campaign on AB 1634, Californians were told that all shelter euthanasias were necessary and unavoidable. PetPAC couldn't disagree more.

The answer is a true "No-Kill" policy for sheltered animals in this country. "No Kill" animal shelters can save over 90% of our animals, and at no additional cost to the community.

Nathan Winograd, Director of the national No Kill Advocacy Center , has written a fascinating new book titled "REDEMPTION - The Myth of Pet Overpopulation and the No Kill Revolution in America." It is a story about believing in the community and trusting in the power of compassion.

We urge you to buy this book and read it as soon as possible.

Nathan writes, "We are a nation of animal lovers... And we donate billions of dollars to charities that promise to help animals in need... However, the agencies that the public expects to protect animals are instead killing more than five million annually. How did this happen? How did the charities founded on the highest ideals of compassion become the nation's leading killer of dogs and cats? How did a nationwide system of tax-funded animal shelters that the public expects to provide a second chance for animals become a network of agencies that does little more than kill them? And why does the animal-loving American public... not only accept this situation but continue to foot the bill for the daily killing of animals through taxes and voluntary contributions?"

There is a better way of running our animal shelters and Nathan Winograd shows us how it works - and it doesn't include mandatory spay/neuter laws.

PetPAC enthusiastically endorses Nathan Winograd's book "Redemption" and calls for immediate action to move America to a true "No-Kill" Society for our animal shelters. We can and we must stop the killing.

Thank you for your help in joining our PetPAC "No Kill" Movement.
