Vets Warn Pet Owners About Peanut Recall
While almost all of the fears about the peanut recall has been about the effects on humans, veterinarians are warning pet owners not the forget about their best friends.
The Michigan Veterinary Medical Association is warning that Salmonella affects animal as well as humans, and that peanut butter and peanut paste are common ingredients found in pet products.
Symptoms of pets with the Salmonella bacteria include diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Pets may also become lethargic and have decreased appetite and abdominal pain.
If you suspect your pet may have the bacteria, contact your veterinarian immediately.
The FDA is currently recalling the following pet products because of the Salmonella outbreak.
