Your Vote Counts
If you live in California the primary elections are approaching fast. It’s a good thing too, because I grew weary of the political ads quite awhile ago. Now my mind is just numb to it.
Regardless of the distasteful staccato of those irritating political ads, our election season gives us an unique opportunity to question those who aspire to govern us. PetPAC does not at this time endorse particular candidates or ballot initiatives, but we do urge each of you to take the time to learn who your candidates are, what they are saying, and in a more practical manner, do they really have the ability to win?

We are hammered daily about how conservative or liberal our aspiring candidates are, but you never hear about issues that may be important to those of us who are fighting for our rights to animal ownership. So, now’s your chance. Sit down at your computer or writing desk, and draft up a letter to those wily wascals and put it to them. “Dear Sir/madam; I am a dog/cat owner. I would like you to know there is a concerted effort by animal extremists to strip our right to own the dog/cat of our choice. While laws in /your state/ have determined pets are considered private property, there are no laws that specifically state we pet owners have a right to that ownership.
For your edification, 67% of all households in the United States own a pet. Here in California ten million dogs and cats reside with our citizens. Groups such as PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the Humane Society of the United States are actively working to limit pet ownership though anti-dog and cat legislation. There is legislation in all 50 states that promotes Breed Specific Laws, Mandatory Sterilization of all dogs and cats, expanding animal abuse laws to include legal activities and arbitrary dog and cat limits aimed at reducing your constituents ability to have a pet.
Therefore, I would ask your opinion on these topics. Do you support the mandatory sterilization of dogs and cats? Do you support eliminating or restricting certain dog breeds? Do you support the expansion of animal abuse laws that do not address neglect or physical harm to our pets? Would you support laws to require cities and counties to produce sensible reasons to limit pet ownership? “
PetPAC would be interested in responses from your candidates. While we don’t endorse, we can educate. The answers to those and other questions you may have would certainly be an education. So, go for it!
